The Black Pearl 94 is the widest ski in Blizzard's Black Pearl women's line, built around a segmented titanal construction they call Fluxform — three pieces of metal arranged in two layers, with a center section underfoot and two sections running along the edges, set in different layers so they don't overlap. It is not a full-sheet metal ski and not a no-metal ski either; this segmented approach gives the ski real dampening and edge grip while leaving the tips and tails freer to twist and engage for a quick redirect. The Poplar-Beech Trueblend woodcore backs that up: dense beech centered underfoot for stability at speed, lighter poplar out toward the tips and tail to keep the swing weight manageable. The rocker-camber-rocker profile — early rise in both tip and tail, camber underfoot — is what makes this ski carve: testers consistently call out its edge hold and how quick it is edge-to-edge on firm snow, and the camber keeps the edge locked in when you want a clean arc. The early rise at the nose adds enough lift to stay buoyant when the snow softens up. At 94mm underfoot it has more float than the rest of the Black Pearl line, so it handles a Pacific Northwest storm day, but it is not a powder specialist — its strongest hand is carving variable and firm snow, not deep days.

This ski suits an advancing-intermediate through expert woman who skis Western all-mountain terrain — groomers, chop, the occasional soft day — and wants one ski that holds an edge on the firm stuff while still floating when it dumps. The 15.5m radius at 170cm is versatile: it rewards medium-to-long arcs but is happy making shorter, energetic turns too, and at 94mm it stays surprisingly quick edge-to-edge. Where it is the wrong call: if you ski almost entirely groomers and never venture off-piste, you don't need the extra width, and the narrower Black Pearl 88 will feel a touch more nimble and direct on hardpack — go narrower for a dedicated piste ski. And if you are a true beginner or a tentative skier still building technique, the metal and the camber want to be driven; this ski rewards a skier who loads the front of the boot, and it won't do the work for you. This is a flat ski — pair it with your own binding. We typically see it mounted with a Marker Griffon or Salomon Warden to keep the swing weight in check.
