MARKER Squire 10 Bindings 26/27

The Marker Squire 10 is an alpine binding adjustable from DIN 3 to 10, part of Marker's Royal Family range, and Marker aims it squarely at people new to freeride and freestyle skiing. The hardware: the toe unit is the Triple Pivot Light 2, the heel is a Compact, a gliding AFD sits beneath the toe, and the brake is a freeride design. Marker's stated case for the Compact 3 heel is that it takes very little effort to step into, and the Anti Ice Rail on the toe is there to keep packed snow and ice off the boot sole so it seats properly.

Two things decide whether this binding fits your setup, and neither is price. The first is the release range: if a technician sets you above DIN 10, the Squire 10 is out regardless of anything else. The second is brake width. Marker offers this one in 85 mm and 100 mm; the model directly above it in the range reaches 110. Skis wide underfoot are therefore ruled out on geometry, whatever your budget says. A smaller point of difference: Marker publishes a stand-height figure for both bindings in the same field, and the Squire 10's is the smaller of the two.

On boots, Marker names Alpine Adult Sole (ISO 5355 A) and GripWalk Adult Sole (ISO 23223 A). Touring soles under ISO 9523 do not appear anywhere in what Marker publishes for this model — that is not a statement they will fail, but it does mean no one can promise you they fit. GripWalk support is declared for each binding individually and never inherited across a brand's range, so this is a check to run on the exact model.

What we can do is match the brake to your skis, mount them, and set your release values on a calibrated bench. The DIN window is an indicator scale rather than a measured release torque, so the number you actually ski is a technician's determination made against your own boot.
