Van Deer Tour 95 Ski 2027

The Van Deer TOUR 95 is a 95 mm touring ski - a ski you walk uphill on - and it sits at the descent end of Van Deer's new touring range. The brand says so in a number: a seven-segment scale from uphill-oriented to downhill-oriented, this ski printed at five to seven. Freetour, in its own words.

What Van Deer publishes. A 95 mm waist, a 129-95-115 mm sidecut, a sintered base, a wood core it calls lightweight, Hirscher's factory tune - and a flex map: stable mid-section, softer tip and tail. Weight is 1,190 g per ski at 170 cm, quoted without plate.

What it leaves blank. The wood species is not named. Metal is never mentioned - we will not tell you it has Titanal, and we will not tell you it has none. No camber or rocker figure is given. We found no on-snow test of it in English, German or Japanese.

Who it is for. Skiers who walk uphill in order to ski down, and would rather carry a little more ski than arrive on top with something they don't want to point downhill. Three lengths, one shape: length buys turn radius, 17 to 21 m. PTO's 26/27 buy is a single 170.

Who should look elsewhere. Want one touring ski for mixed conditions, not a deep-snow tool? The TOUR 85 is the same $1,000, ten millimetres narrower and 80 grams per ski lighter - and Van Deer calls it balanced. If the climb is the point, its uphill work went into the TOUR 75 and RACE TOUR 65. If you ride lifts, the resort ski is the FREERIDE 98: two sheets of Titanal, 730 g more per ski.

The $1,000 buys a bare ski. The matching mohair skin is a separate $280 product we did not stock. Van Deer specifies no binding for it and publishes no mounting spec, so we will not guess: binding compatibility is a safety question, not a copywriting one. Bring the binding you have in mind and we will look at the ski with you before anything is drilled.
