About the Product
The Blaster AsymWrap is Bataleon's workhorse all-mountain freestyle binding — a medium-flex (6/10) traditional two-strap setup built around an asymmetric aluminum chassis that Bataleon calls the AsymWrap. Because that chassis is cut shorter on the outside edge and connects to the baseplate at three points, the binding flexes laterally more than a symmetric frame would, which gives you a looser, more skate-like feel when you're pressing or tweaking — while still handing off your heel-side drive cleanly when you need it. The FullBack highback is rotatable and has tool-free forward-lean adjustment, so you can stand it up or lay it back to firm up your heel-side response without a screwdriver in the lift line. The two 3D AuxTech CradleStraps use an auxetic (hinged) mesh geometry that wraps around your boot's contours rather than mashing flat across it — less hot-spot pressure, more even hold. Underfoot, a single-density EVA footbed with a ToadGrip rubber heel pad keeps your boot from shifting. It mounts on any standard 2x4 or 4x4 insert pattern, so there are no compatibility worries with standard snowboard boots or most board brands.
The Blaster AsymWrap hits the sweet spot for intermediate to advanced riders who cover a lot of ground — park laps, resort groomers, and occasional off-piste — and want a binding that responds without punishing them. If you're a raw beginner, the 6/10 flex can feel stiff and unforgiving while you're still sorting out your balance; Bataleon's own Fly binding runs softer (5/10) and uses a shorter Quarterback (3/4-height) highback that will serve you better while you build your fundamentals. If you want a more locked-in, edge-to-edge feel for harder carving, look at the Blaster HW (HeelWrap) version — it runs the same 6/10 flex but its chassis wraps the heel with full-length aluminum sides connected at four points, so it drives the edge with more authority and less side-to-side play than this AsymWrap. One thing to be clear about: this is a standard two-strap ratchet binding — it works with any regular snowboard boot and is not a step-in or step-on system, so no special boot is required.
