About the Product
The Party Wave is Bataleon's short-fat, volume-shifted powder slasher — and the starting point for understanding it is the shape, not the flex. Bataleon cut the running length down and pushed it wide (waist widths land from roughly 260mm up depending on size), with 20mm of taper and about 40mm of setback over the board length so the nose sits high without you consciously weighting your back leg. The 3BT Medium Camber profile is the other half of the story: the base is divided into three sections — a cambered centerbase that holds an edge and loads up for pop, flanked by two raised sidebases that lift the contact points at the sides of the board. The nose sidebase uplift is pronounced; the tail uplift is kept low. What that means in practice is the board initiates turns fluidly, resists edge-catching when you're landing off-axis in soft snow, and floats through powder at a centered stance rather than forcing you to lean back and burn your rear quad all day. The 4/10 flex is medium-soft — easy to press, willing to butter, and responsive enough to lay down a carve on a groomer without going squirrelly. The Hyper Glide S sintered base is genuinely fast and holds wax well, which matters on those long powder traverses. Ride it 5–10 cm shorter than your normal length; that's not a workaround, it's the intended spec.
This board is built for the rider who already has an all-mountain board in the quiver and wants something dedicated to the days when the mountain gets soft — powder stashes, trees, slashing side-hits, surfy transitions. Intermediate and advanced riders who want a playful alternative to their everyday setup will get the most out of it. Who should not buy it: riders looking for a single do-everything board, anyone who rides primarily hardpack and groomers at speed, or anyone chasing large park jumps. The softer flex and surf-oriented shape get chattery in variable chop and don't provide the dampening or nose-to-tail stiffness that aggressive carvers or big-air riders need. The Party Wave is a directional board, so it's not built for riding switch — if you want a genuine twin for park crossover and switch days, that's a different board in the Bataleon line, the Evil Twin (true twin, medium flex, all-mountain). And if you want to go even deeper into pure powder, the swallowtail Bataleon Surfer is the more committed deep-snow option — just know it gives up the easygoing all-mountain playfulness this board has.
