About the Product
The Cultivator Flat Top is Burton's entry point into the all-mountain freestyle world — a true twin, soft-flexing board built around the Flat Top profile with Easy Bevel. Flat Top means a flat platform between your feet, which keeps the board stable and predictable underfoot while the beveled contact points at tip and tail lift away from the snow just enough to kill edge catch without killing feel. The Biax fiberglass laminate and Fly 900G dual-species wood core keep everything light and forgiving, so the board moves with you when you're pressing, buttering, or working on switch riding rather than fighting you. Pop is there — it's just measured and honest rather than snappy. On-snow it rolls effortlessly from edge to edge, stays quiet on groomed terrain, and handles side hits without demanding precise technique. Burton's Channel mounting system runs the full length, so you can dial stance width and angles without needing special hardware, and Pro-Tip construction sheds a bit of swing weight from the tips to make spins feel less like work.
This board is for newer riders and lower intermediates who want a dependable, low-drama board to build skills on — someone who's past the rental stage but still sorting out edge control, switch riding, and basic park features. It replaced the Ripcord and Stylus in Burton's lineup and consolidates their beginner-to-early-intermediate range into one gender-neutral option. Who should not buy it: anyone already comfortable with linked carves at speed, riders with a few seasons under their boots chasing steeper groomers or bigger park jumps, and anyone who already knows they want to session rails and kickers regularly. At a soft 2/10 flex and a flat profile, this board will feel limiting well before your skills do. Those riders should look at the Burton Process, which brings a medium flex, camber underfoot, and a lot more snap — a meaningfully different ride for someone ready to push harder.
