About the Product

The Black Crows Camox is a unisex all-mountain ski with a 97 mm waist, the middle width in the Black Crows range, now in its fourth generation. That generation arrived with the 25/26 redesign; the 26/27 ski carries it over unchanged. The build is conventional and proven: a poplar wood core reinforced underfoot by a harder ash insert, semi-cap construction with ABS sidewalls all around, a double rocker riding over a classic medium camber section, and a published 18 m radius at every length. The published materials list contains no metal.

Each piece of that build maps to how it skis. The double rocker raises tip and tail, so the ski pivots, slarves and corrects short turns easily, while the cambered middle keeps edge grip on groomed snow. Black Crows calls the sidecut slightly short for carving reactivity, and the fourth generation shortened the radius and homogenized the flex. The ash pocket stiffens the binding area, and an independent on-snow review finds the current ski smoother and more powerful than the third generation — at some cost to the light, playful feel earlier versions were known for. No metal keeps it lively at about 1,900 g per ski at 175.2 cm, though it gives away some bite on very hard snow.

The Camox suits skiers covering the entire resort on a single pair — groomed runs, tree lines, bump fields, chopped-up snow — with a tolerant, progressive flex that does not punish mistakes; progressing intermediates through advanced skiers fit it well. It is not for ice specialists or max-speed chargers, and powder-first skiers should step up to the Atris at 105 mm — Black Crows rates float at this width as 'good', not great. If the plan includes walking uphill, look to the touring sibling, the Camox Freebird; the Camox Birdie brings the identical design in shorter lengths.

The Camox is sold flat, without bindings. Bring your boots and we will help you choose from the official pairings, match the brake to the 97 mm waist, mount it, and settle the length question between the four sizes.

Tech Specs

Fiber & resin: 90° Carbon fibers stitched into the glass. Extra pop and response, without adding extra stiffness.
Profile: More camber!
Core: High strength Aspen is combined with Bamboo and lightweight Paulownia wood to provide the perfect balance of strong and light.
Base: The highest grade carbon-infused sintered base material available. Designed for speed.
Side cut: A twin sidecut which allows for the underfoot width of a wide board in the tip/tail width of a standard size. This design provides improved leverage on landings, grip through turns, and stability on flat base.
Shape: Designed to be ridden in one direction. More nose than tail, set back stance, and a sidecut to match. Can you still ride it switch? Yeah, of course. Is it going to be as good riding switch all day long? Probably not.
