Capita Pathfinder Snowboard 26/27

The CAPiTA Pathfinder is a true-twin freestyle snowboard, 24.6 cm at the waist on the 145 out to 25.8 cm on the 157, and at $449.95 it is the deck CAPiTA hands a rider who is still learning. The profile carries the whole argument. The 26/27 catalog prints REVERSE CAMBER over this board: Park V2 with Flat Kick sets a zero-camber section through the insert area and rocker outside it, so the board is flat where you stand and lifted where an edge would otherwise hook you. Catch resistance is what a first-season rider needs most, and that geometry supplies it.

The build says it again. A Dual Core of beech and poplar - CAPiTA puts the beech in for power and durability, not for lightness - sits under 626 g/m2 biaxial Special Blend Fiberglass, and the catalog's construction block runs four layers and ends at the base. There is no additives row: no carbon, no aramid, no metal, no cork. The Superdrive base is sintruded rather than sintered, CAPiTA's own middle category, bought for a low-maintenance life instead of top-end glide. The sidecut is a single Radial arc, 7.4 m at the 145 stepping to 8.0 m at the 157.

Buy it to learn on, or as a cheap park deck to abuse. Skip it if you already carve, chase speed, or ride deep snow. Sizing is the place this sale goes wrong: two styles run here, 21040701 in 145 to 157 and 21040801 Wide in 153W to 159W, and they share 153, 155 and 157. Both runs are entirely odd, so at those three lengths the topsheet number cannot tell you which board you have - only the style code can. The four shortest standard lengths cap at a US 9.5 boot; the 153, 155 and 157 reach a US 10; every Wide starts at 10+.
