The Black Crows Captis Birdie is a women's ski for all-mountain freestyle, 90mm underfoot — soft, light and playful, built to make progression easy. It is the entry point into the blackcrows line at $669: the same 90mm platform as the unisex Captis, cut in women's sizes from 154.4 to 172.1cm.

blackcrows builds it around a poplar wood core and fiberglass laminate — no metal in the layup — finished as a semi-cap ski with ABS sidewalls running the full length. The recipe pairs a very progressive, softened flex with a long effective edge: the soft flex keeps the ski low-effort to bend and steer, while grip and stability at the speeds it is meant for come from that edge length rather than from stiffness. At 1500 to 1750g per ski it stays light underfoot all day.

It suits intermediate-to-advancing women who ski the resort creatively — trees, bumps, side hits, a bit of park — rather than charging in a straight line. Lighter and shorter skiers are particularly well served: the 154.4cm start of the size run is a genuine fit, not a token size, and lighter testers are exactly who loved this ski in independent testing.

It is not for powerful or heavier advanced skiers, who run out of ski and get tip flap at speed. It is not a powder ski — the soft tips dive in fresh snow rather than plane — and with no metal underfoot it gets knocked around in crud instead of driving through it. A skier who expects to outgrow it quickly should start with the wider Camox Birdie (97mm) instead — that is the upgrade path in this line.
