Lange RSJ 50 Ski Boots

The RSJ 50 is Lange's entry point for small skiers — a three-buckle junior boot built around a mono-injection polyolefin shell and a junior-specific last shaped for narrower, smaller feet and shorter lower legs than adult lasts are designed to accommodate. That flex 50 is genuinely soft: a young, lightweight kid on groomed terrain will bend this boot into the fall line without fighting it, which is exactly the point at this age and ability stage. The three aluminum buckles tighten cleanly and are sized for small hands — a kid or parent can get a secure, even closure without wrestling with over-engineered hardware. There is no heat-moldable liner here; the Junior Liner with its Power Wedge tongue is a standard foam construction that relies on the anatomic junior shell shape for fit rather than on custom thermoforming. Junior GripWalk-compatible soles and replaceable toe and heel pieces round out a boot designed to take some abuse and last through a growth cycle or two of hand-me-downs.

This boot is for kids ages eight and under who are learning to ski and need a setup that is easy to get on, easy to flex, and warm enough to keep a small foot comfortable through a half-day lesson or a family ski day. If your child is older, heavier, or has been skiing for a few seasons and is starting to push turns with real intention, the flex 50 will feel sloppy and offer very little feedback — that kid needs the RSJ 60 or RSJ 65, which step up the flex and still stay in a junior fit. This boot is also not a fit solution for a wide foot: the anatomic junior last runs on the narrower side, and if your child complains of side pressure or toe squeeze, we need to look at other options before those complaints turn into real problems.
