MARKER Griffon X 13 MWerks Bindings 26/27

Marker rebuilt the Griffon X 13 MWerks for 26/27. It is a freeride binding adjustable across DIN 4-13. Three of the changes are stated outright: the TP Elite X toe housing is now made from a single cast, the anti-ice rail uses a new alloy, and an integrated brake brings the stand height down to 14 mm from the 24 mm this chassis stood at previously. At the toe itself Marker puts the figure at 9 mm.

That height is the whole argument for the X Series. Sitting the boot closer to the ski shortens the lever between your foot and the edge, and Marker's stated case for the single-cast toe housing is that it is lighter, more compact and therefore more stable. Behind it sits the Inter Pivot X heel, with a stainless steel gliding plate under the toe.

Compatibility is stated and narrow: Marker gives BOOT TYPE as A / GW A, meaning alpine and GripWalk adult soles. Touring soles are not on the list. That reads as deliberate rather than an omission, because the Griffon 13 MN in the same catalog is printed A / T / GW A — Marker writes a T when a binding accepts a touring sole. Ski touring boots and you need a different binding.

Brakes come in 90, 105 and 120 mm and have to clear your ski's waist. We match the brake to your skis, mount them, and set your release values on a calibrated bench. The DIN window is an indicator scale rather than a measured release torque, so the number you actually ski is a technician's determination made against your own boot.
