Maven 86 C Ski - 2025 - Women's

The Maven 86 C is Atomic's carbon-reinforced all-mountain ski for women who have moved past beginner terrain and want a daily driver that holds up on groomers, handles variable snow, and doesn't punish them in the bumps or trees. The "C" in the name means a carbon backbone runs the full length of the poplar wood core, layered with triaxial fiberglass — no metal here, which keeps the ski noticeably light and easy to swing. That carbon stringer adds stiffness and a snappy response that you feel when you load the edge and push out of a turn: the ski returns energy cleanly without that dead, dampened feeling of a heavier wood-only build. The 15/75/10 rocker profile (tip rocker, long camber underfoot, slight tail release) keeps edge contact high for real grip on hardpack while the HRZN-shaped tip floats through softer snow without diving. It carves willingly on groomed runs in the shorter lengths (147–153cm) and gets progressively more stable and directional as you move toward the 161 and 169.

This ski is built for an intermediate woman who has outgrown rental gear and wants something responsive but not punishing — or a solid intermediate-to-advanced skier who wants a lighter, nimble resort ski that covers most conditions without exhausting her. Where it falls short: if you're an advanced skier who spends serious time on hard, chopped-up Eastern ice or pushes hard at speed, you'll likely find the Maven 86 C flexes out and loses authority. In that case, step up to the Maven 94 CTI, which adds titanal and a wider platform for skiers who demand more grip and damp stability in harder conditions. Likewise, if you're still building confidence and the carbon feel is too snappy, the base Maven 86 (no carbon) is a gentler, more forgiving version of the same shape.
