Pivot 12 GW B115 Forza 3.0

The Look Pivot 12 GW is a freeride and all-mountain binding built around Look's iconic turntable heel — the same core design that's been at the center of freeskiing for decades. The number tells you who this binding holds: a DIN range of 4–12 covers lighter and mid-weight skiers, roughly up to about 160–180 lb depending on ability and boot sole type. That turntable heel gives you 28 mm of heel elastic travel, and the toe piece adds 45 mm of elastic travel — a big part of why the Pivot resists pre-release the way it does. In practice that means the binding soaks up hard landings and off-axis impacts without ejecting you, while still releasing cleanly in a real fall. The B115 brake fits skis with a waist between roughly 95 mm and 115 mm — pair it to an 85 mm-waist carver and the brakes drag; pair it to a 125 mm-waist powder board and they don't clear the edges to engage properly after a fall. The GW designation means the binding's antifriction device (AFD) self-adjusts for both traditional ISO 5355 alpine boot soles and GripWalk (ISO 23223) rockered soles — no adapter needed. Stand height is a nearly flat 19 mm at the heel and 18 mm at the toe, which keeps you close to the ski and makes edge-to-edge feel direct.

This binding is a genuine fit for intermediate-to-expert skiers who ski hard terrain, want serious anti-pre-release retention in variable snow, and are running a wide all-mountain or freeride ski in roughly the 95–115 mm waist range. If you're a heavier skier — say, over 180 lb at an aggressive level — or if your DIN setting lands above 10, you want the Pivot 15 GW (DIN 6–15) or Pivot 18 GW (DIN 8–18) instead; running a DIN 12 binding pinned at its ceiling is a safety compromise, not a workaround. On the brake side, match the brake to your ski waist: if your ski is around 90 mm or narrower, go with the B95 (fits ~75–95 mm) — a B115 on a clearly narrower ski leaves the arms too wide to bite the snow, which is a rescue problem waiting to happen. The Forza 3.0 is a colorway, not a spec change. Finally, this binding is not compatible with MNC or tech/touring boot soles — if you're running a touring-capable boot, look at Look's NX series with MNC multi-norm compatibility instead.
