Pivot 12 GW B95 Forza 3.0

The Look Pivot 12 GW in the Forza 3.0 colorway is the lightest binding in Look's Pivot lineup at around 1,105g per binding — the same iconic turntable heel that aggressive freeride and comp skiers run on the Pivot 18, trimmed down to a DIN 4–12 range. That DIN ceiling is the number that matters most on the shelf: it covers most intermediate-to-advanced skiers, and as a rough illustration it lands a moderate-to-aggressive skier somewhere in the 75–85 kg neighborhood — but DIN is set by a technician from your weight, height, boot sole length, age and skier type, not from bodyweight alone, so treat that as a ballpark, not a self-diagnosis. The turntable heel rotates directly beneath the tibia and delivers 28mm of elastic travel, which is a lot for an alpine binding — it absorbs edge-hit vibration before it decides whether to release, which translates to meaningfully fewer unwanted pre-releases on variable snow. The Full Action toe adds 45mm of elastic travel and releases through 180° of directions, not just laterally. On boot soles, it accepts standard Alpine (ISO 5355) and GripWalk (ISO 23223) soles only — GripWalk boots mount without an adapter, but it does NOT take touring (ISO 9523) or rockered tech/pin soles, so a dedicated touring boot will not work here.

This binding is a strong fit for an intermediate-to-advanced all-mountain or freeride skier — someone who wants real Pivot retention and shock absorption without paying for DIN range they will never use. It is not the right binding if your calculated DIN setting is above 12, which typically applies to heavier skiers (roughly 90 kg and up) or aggressive expert and race-level skiers — for those, Look's Pivot 15 GW or Pivot 18 GW are the appropriate step up. And if your calculated DIN sits below 4, you are a lighter recreational skier and this binding will be over-spec on the release-force floor; a lower-DIN binding fits you better. The bigger thing to get right is brake width, because the Pivot 12 GW comes in several: the B95 brake fits skis with an underfoot waist up to roughly 100–105mm, the B105 is the one for skis in the ~100–110mm range, and the B115 is for the widest waists. A brake should sit no more than about 10–15mm wider than your ski's waist — too wide and it drags, too narrow and it won't clear. So don't guess: bring your ski's actual waist measurement and your boot sole type to the counter, and we'll match the right brake and confirm the Pivot goes on your ski safely.
