Pivot 15 GW B105 Super Edition

The Look PIVOT 15 GW B105 Super Edition is Look's all-metal freeride binding built around the turntable heel mechanism the brand has refined for decades. That turntable heel is the binding's defining feature: rather than a conventional heel cup that resists lateral movement until it snaps open, the Pivot's heel rotates under your tibia, absorbing torsional stress in real time. The result is 28mm of elastic travel at the heel and 45mm at the all-metal race toe — significantly more than most competing bindings — which means the binding stays closed through hard landings and off-axis hits instead of pre-releasing, then releases cleanly when you actually need it to. The toe piece offers 180° multi-directional release and an independent upward release function that works on its own, not as a byproduct of lateral motion. Boot sole compatibility covers traditional Alpine ISO 5355 and GripWalk ISO 23223 — not touring or tech soles of any kind. The B105 brake width fits skis with a waist width roughly between 90mm and 105mm; pair wider than that and you risk brake contact with the snow on edge.

This is a DIN 6–15 binding, which covers most advanced and expert skiers who ski at a genuine high level but don't need the extended range of the Pivot 18. If your calculated DIN setting comes out at 4 or 5 — lighter skiers, kids, or cautious intermediates — this is the wrong binding: the springs are calibrated for a higher-force threshold, and you will not get safe release at low DIN values. That skier belongs on a Pivot 12 or a more entry-level option. On the other end, very heavy or extremely aggressive skiers who legitimately run DIN above 15 should step to the Pivot 18 GW, which runs 8–18 with heavier-duty springs. The Super Edition is the same binding mechanically — the distinction is a full metallic colorway finish, not upgraded internals. If your ski waist runs 110mm or wider, look at the B115 or B130 brake variants instead of this B105.
