About the Product

The Look Pivot 15 GW B115 Gold is a full-metal, all-mountain freeride binding built around two pieces of engineering that have made the Pivot line the reference point for retention in alpine skiing. The toe piece is an aluminum race unit with 45mm of elastic travel and 180-degree multi-directional release — that long elastic travel means the binding can absorb significant deflection before deciding to let go, which translates to fewer unwanted pre-releases on hard chop, landings, and variable snow without sacrificing safety release in a real fall. The heel is the reason people argue about this binding on the internet: the turntable design rotates directly under the tibia axis rather than hinging back from a fixed point, so in a twisting fall the heel swivels with the leg instead of fighting it. That geometry gives you 28mm of heel elastic travel with a retention feel that's firm and coupled, not vague. The B115 brake clears skis up to 115mm underfoot. Boot compatibility covers traditional Alpine ISO 5355 soles and GripWalk ISO 23223 soles — this is not a multinorm binding, so touring boots with tech or WTR soles will not work with it. DIN range is 6–15, the binding weighs about 1,245g per half pair, and stand height is 18mm at the toe and 19mm at the heel — a roughly 1mm ramp, about as flat and neutral as alpine bindings get.

This binding is for advanced to expert skiers — anyone who skis hard enough, fast enough, or in consequential enough terrain that they want the extra retention margin the long elastic travel provides. The DIN 6–15 range covers a wide swath of aggressive recreational skiers up through heavier or more aggressive freeriders who need the top end. Where it does not make sense: if your DIN setting falls below roughly 6, the minimum toe release is going to be set higher than it should be for your weight and ability, which is a real safety concern. Lighter skiers, beginners, or anyone whose calculated DIN sits in the 3–5 range should be looking at the Pivot 12 GW instead, which carries a 4–12 range and will release correctly for them. Likewise, if your ski's waist is narrower than 95mm, the B115 brake is the wrong width — Look sells the same binding in a B95 configuration for narrower skis, and running oversized brakes increases the chance of brake drag in deep snow. The Gold colorway is cosmetic only; spec and performance are identical across Pivot 15 GW B115 colorways.
