About the Product
The Service Dog is Rome's volume-shifted all-mountain board — wide, compact, and designed to be ridden 3–5 cm shorter than your usual size. It runs Fusion Camber, which means positive camber between the feet for real edge hold and pop, with small rocker pockets right at the contact points to take the bite off turn entry. That combination, paired with a 10mm tapered directional shape and a longer nose, gives you a board that carves with actual authority on groomers, floats noticeably better than its size suggests in soft snow, and stays surfy and loose in trees or on variable terrain. The Directional Diamond 3D nose shaping helps the tip plane earlier in deep snow rather than diving, and the Double Kick tech at the tips — a second, steeper upturn built right at the very ends — lets the board lock into a nose or tail press cleanly without fighting the stiff rise of a traditional kick. The bamboo HotRod core keeps weight down while staying poppy and responsive, and the Bi-Radial sidecut initiates turns quickly at the nose then accelerates out of them with a wider radius through the tail. The PowerSlide extruded base is not the fastest base Rome makes, but it is durable and holds wax well across resort conditions.
This board is built for the intermediate-to-advanced all-mountain rider who wants one quiver board that handles a powder morning, afternoon groomers, and side hits on the way down without overthinking any of it. The 15mm setback stance and directional float mean it rewards riding with your weight back, which is a natural move in variable snow. Where it is not the right call: if you mostly ride groomed blue and black runs and want pure edge precision above all else, the Service Dog's tapered, volume-shifted geometry and surfy intent will feel loose and indistinct underfoot — that rider wants a camber-dominant directional board built to charge and hold an edge rather than slash and float. And if you are a dedicated park rider chasing a true centered twin for switch riding and presses, that is not this board either — Rome's Agent is the true-twin, freestyle-first option in the line.
