About the Product

The Rossignol Sender 110 Open is a men's freeride ski, 110 mm underfoot, built for soft snow and big-mountain terrain rather than groomers. What sets it apart from the metal-free Sender 100 one rung down is real carbon and metal. The structured reinforcement field reads Carbon Alloy Matrix and Titanal Beam, where the Sender 100's field is empty - so the carbon and the titanal here are specced, not marketing copy. A titanal beam over a rectangular full sidewall is what lets a wide ski damp chatter and hold a line at speed.

Around the metal sit a poplar wood core, twin rocker at tip and tail, a lightweight Air Tip and a sintered HD base. The twin rocker lifts both contact points off the snow, so the ski floats, pivots and smears in soft snow and shrugs off variable conditions; the trade is grip on firm groomers, where a narrower cambered ski keeps its edge. The turn shape is long - 19 m at 176 cm and 20 m at 184 cm - a big-mountain radius that wants speed and open terrain, not quick short turns.

This is an advanced-to-expert ski, and it is not a light one: roughly 2.05 to 2.2 kg on each foot at the two lengths we stock. That mass is the point, not a flaw - it is stability, and the weight to stay composed and push through chop and crud. It suits a strong skier who drives the ski and spends real time off-piste, and it is the wrong ski for a beginner, a groomer-only carver, or anyone after a light touring setup.

One thing to settle before the price: the Sender 110 Open is sold flat at $899.95, with no binding on it. The binding and its mount cost extra. Rossignol's recommended pairing is the Look Pivot 15 GW B115, which we stock, and a 115 mm brake matches the 110 mm waist. We mount it and size the brake with you in the shop.

Who It's For

The Sender 110 Open suits an advanced to expert skier who spends most of the day off-piste and wants one ski for deep days, big-mountain lines and side-country laps. At 110 mm underfoot it is a soft-snow ski first: it floats and slashes readily, and the Titanal Beam keeps it composed when the snow firms up on the way out.

It is not the right ski for a skier who mostly rides groomers — a narrower all-mountain ski will carve better on hardpack. Skiers who want the same shape with a binding already mounted should look at the system versions instead.

Sizing

We stock the Sender 110 Open in 176 cm and 184 cm. Because it is rockered at both tip and tail, its effective edge — the part of the edge actually touching firm snow — is shorter than the stated length. Rossignol builds this ski in four lengths: 168, 176, 184 and 191 cm.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Rossignol Sender 110 Open come with bindings?
No. "Open" means the ski is sold flat, without a binding. Rossignol's recommended pairing is the Pivot 15 GW with a 115 mm brake, which fits the 110 mm waist.

Is the Sender 110 Open a powder ski or an all-mountain ski?
It is a freeride ski. The 110 mm waist and twin rocker are built for soft snow and big-mountain terrain, but the Titanal Beam and VAS damping let it hold an edge on the firm snow you cross getting there.

What's the difference between the Sender 110 Open and the old Sender Free 110?
The Sender 110 Open (item RAPMB01) is the 26/27 model. "Sender Free 110" was the previous name for this ski.

Does the Sender 110 Open have metal in it?
Yes — a Titanal Beam underfoot, paired with a Carbon Alloy Matrix. It is not a full two-sheet metal ski, which is why it stays light enough to slash and pivot in powder.
