Rossignol SOUL W 92 OPEN

The Rossignol Soul W 92 OPEN is a women's freeride ski, 91 mm underfoot at 158 cm, and the whole ski follows from one decision about where the metal went. Rossignol's spec field reads TITANAL BEAM: a strip of metal down the spine of the ski, not a sheet spanning its width. That distinction is Rossignol's own, not ours. The Arcade W 88 fills that same field with FULL TI LAYER. The brand has a word for a full sheet and did not use it here.

A beam braces the ski along its length without a sheet's mass, and the figure at the other end of that trade is 1.35 kg per ski at 158 cm. Around it sit a poplar PEFC wood core, rectangular full sidewall, a sintered HD base, an Air Tip, and rocker at both the tip and the tail. The sidecut is progressive, 125-91-115 at that same length, and the radius stays short for the width: 13 m at 150, 14 m at 158, 15 m at 166.

Rocker at both ends lifts the contact points off the snow, so the ski pivots early and lets a turn go rather than locking into it. That suits an intermediate or advanced skier whose day runs groomer, trees, and the pushed-around snow in between, and who is tired of levering something heavy through the last hour of it. It is the wrong ski for hard, fast, icy piste. Rockered contacts and a beam instead of a full-width sheet give up edge hold at speed, and Rossignol gave it up deliberately. It is not a first ski either.

Check the model name against the size you actually want. Of the three lengths we stock, only the 166 is literally 92 mm; the 158 measures 91 mm and the 150 measures 90 mm. And this is the OPEN, which is Rossignol's word for a flat ski: no binding on it. Rossignol lists the Look SPX 11 GW B100 as the factory pairing.
