Rossignol Soul W Pro Junior Ski System XP10

The Rossignol Soul W Pro XP10 is a junior girls' freeride ski, sold as a complete system: the binding is included, matched to the ski and already mounted. Rossignol builds it in the Rallybird line and prints it under a Teen/Junior header.

Read the name carefully. The W here marks the girls' model inside Rossignol's junior pair; it is not a women's marking. Rossignol uses the same letter for both jobs, and that one character is how this ski ends up on the wrong feet.

The build is plain and honest: a poplar wood core, fiberglass, cap sidewalls, no metal of any kind. Twin rocker — both the tip and the tail rise early — makes the ski quick to pivot and slow to hook an edge. Waist is 90 mm across the lengths we carry, on a shallow 118-90-108 sidecut, and the turn radius climbs from 13 m at the 140 to 19 m at the 160. Rossignol does not publish a base material or a flex rating for this ski. We will not fill those holes with a guess.

It is aimed at a girl who owns her turns and has started looking off the side of the piste: trees, side-country, the soft snow that gathers at the margins. The kid whose whole season happens on hardpack and rails wants a different ski — Rossignol's Scratch Pro, which is narrower. The binding has floors too: its release range bottoms out at DIN 2.5 and its boot-sole adjustment at 261 mm, so a genuinely small child may not fit it at all.

Rossignol makes five lengths, 130 through 170. We stock the 140, 150 and 160. A short adult woman will fit the 160 — before you buy it as an adult ski, read the review below, because it weighs more than the Soul W 92, not less. The release value is set in the shop: a certified technician, a calibrated jig, the five inputs the standard requires. We measure the boot sole against the binding's range before the skis leave.
