About the Product

The Rossignol Speed 80 HV+ is a men's overlap ski boot built around a 104mm high-volume last — that wide-and-tall interior is the defining characteristic of this boot, and it shapes everything about how it performs. The polyurethane shell uses Rossignol's Sensor Matrix construction, a grid layout that varies the shell wrap and stiffness so the 80-flex feel is forgiving underfoot without going completely noodle on you. Four micro-adjust aluminum buckles and a 40mm velcro power strap let you dial the hold progressively — snug the lower two buckles first to lock the heel, then the upper pair for cuff control, and the strap handles ankle-to-shin pressure. The Custom T4 liner is Thinsulate-insulated and thermo-moldable, meaning a bootfitter can heat-mold it to your foot shape for a noticeably better hold than it gives straight off the shelf. A bi-injected easy-entry instep zone — softer polyolefin plastic right where you flex the boot open — makes getting in and out less of a wrestling match after a long run.

This boot is built for a beginner or lower-intermediate skier with a genuinely wide foot — we're talking someone who has historically had their toes go numb or felt the sides of their foot compressed in a standard-last boot. If you have a medium or narrow foot, the 104mm last will leave too much dead space and the boot will move on you instead of transmitting your input to the ski — that's not a comfort issue, that's a control issue, and no amount of buckle tightening fully fixes it. Similarly, if you're already skiing blues aggressively, linking parallel turns with speed, an 80 flex will start to feel vague and you'll notice the boot deflecting rather than responding. In either of those cases we'd point you toward the Speed 90 HV+ (same wide last, 10 more flex points) or the Speed 100 HV+ for skiers who are genuinely pushing into red/black terrain. No walk mode here, and GripWalk soles are sold separately — it ships with a standard alpine sole — so this is a straightforward on-piste boot. Come in and get fitted — flex and last width need to match your foot volume and skiing output, and guessing on either one is how you end up with a boot you stop wearing after day two.
