Stockli Stormrider 88 Skis 2026/2027

The Stöckli Stormrider 88 is a Swiss-made all-mountain ski with an 88 mm waist — the narrowest ski in the Stormrider family, and the one built first for groomed snow. It is a groomer-first ski for advanced and expert skiers who carve, with enough width in reserve for crud, bumps, trees and the occasional soft day.

The build is Stöckli's Sandwich System around a Freeride Core of poplar, beech and paulownia. Titanal Technology PRO puts the metal right at the surface — the upper laminate is the printed topsheet itself, and independent testers put the Titanal count at two sheets. That layup is where the manners come from: the ride is unusually quiet and composed as speed builds. The scale reading is the surprise — 1,620 to 1,852 g per ski, genuinely light for a metal-laminate ski, so it stays quick in bumps and trees and easy on the legs all day. Polywall sidewalls add impact resistance, SME Light edges save weight, and underneath sits a sintered Racing-Graphite race base.

The tail is the honest caveat. It carries Tail Rocker and Stöckli's Freeride Tail polymer in the construction, but the shape is comparatively flat and squared-off. That tail locks a carve in beautifully — and it punishes a backseat stance. Reviewers flag it more than any other trait: this ski wants you standing on the front of your boots. Powder-first skiers should go wider in the family — the 95, the 102 or the 108 — and skiers who want snap and rebound out of a turn will find this one smooth rather than springy.

Stöckli offers the Stormrider 88 in four lengths — 169/174/179/184 cm, all on a 130-88-114 mm sidecut per the 26/27 workbook — with a long-ish 16 to 19.5 m radius that matches how it likes to be skied. The ski comes flat, so you will need a binding mounted; the factory-specced option is Marker's Griffon 13, and we mount it and help you settle on the right length in-shop.
