Sweet Protection Looper Mips Helmet x Jesper Tjäder

The Sweet Protection Looper Mips, sold here in the Jesper Tjäder colorway, is a park and all-mountain snow helmet built to sit low and weigh little — 455g on Sweet's scale. Tjäder is a Swedish freeskier and his edition changes only the artwork plus a rear autograph; nothing structural moves with the graphic, so under the paint you get the standard helmet.

Its shell is made in-mold, with a polycarbonate exterior bonded to a shock-absorbing EPS core, and Sweet adds extra reinforcement, called Impact Shields, into the front and rear where hits tend to land, so force is spread rather than concentrated. For twisting crashes it runs one layer of Mips — a low-friction membrane that lets the shell move a touch on your head and bleed off some rotational energy. Mips is a bolt-on system rather than a rating, and it lowers risk rather than erasing it.

Certification is dual and snow-only: EN 1077 Class B, the European alpine standard, alongside ASTM F2040, the US recreational-snow standard. That makes it a ski-and-board lid, not the ski-and-skate kind, and Class B is the vented, lower tier that sits under race-grade Class A. Mips rides on top of that certified helmet as an add-on and never stands in for the rating itself.

The rest is park-helmet housekeeping: a rear turn-dial cinches the fit one-handed, the ear pads pop out for spring laps, and those pads are Audio Ready if you add Sweet's Sound Chips (not included). A goggle garage and built-in goggle vents close the gap at your brow and cut fogging, and venting is generous, though Sweet has not said whether the ports are adjustable. It comes in SM, ML and LXL. Riders who specifically want the premium 2Vi carbon shell will be happier on the Trooper or Igniter. Ski racers who need Class A shell coverage should look elsewhere.
