Van Deer SL-JR Pro Skis 2027

The Van Deer SL-JR PRO is a junior slalom race ski: 65.5 mm underfoot at 138 cm, a 10 m radius, and a junior race plate already mounted. Van Deer builds it for a kid already running gates, and names it (with the GS-JR PRO) in the one FIS statement its 26/27 trade workbook makes about specific skis — not a line its product page repeats. A brand statement isn't a homologation lookup: check the current FIS list.

Van Deer calls this a precise replica of its SL WORLD CUP, and one part holds up literally: the construction bullet — ash-poplar solid wood core, double Titanal reinforcement (a count, never a thickness) — is copied word for word from the World Cup ski's page. Around it: sintered race base, tune-ready ABS sidewalls, Marcel Hirscher's factory tune. The plate is where the resemblance ends: junior Marker hardware, roughly a third the weight of the adult plate. Camber is unpublished; the camber in our spec table is PTO's read.

Buy it for a racer already training slalom who can load a metal race ski. Wrong ski for a child who isn't racing: Van Deer's junior lineup is this and the GS-JR PRO, both race-only, with no recreational junior model to fall back on. Wrong for a racer needing a release value above DIN 10, and for a GS racer. Don't expect one ski to cover two growth spurts: each plate has a fixed boot-sole-length window, and the four lengths are separate radius-tuned skis (8, 10, 11 and 11 m).

PTO stocks one length, 138 cm, with the Marker COMP 10 TCX (DIN 3-10), the binding both junior plates name as their tested pairing. Other lengths and the COMP 12 GW are special orders. $830 with the plate on, $1,105 with our binding. The plate arrives mounted; we fit the binding. DIN is a reference number, not a measured release value: a technician sets a child's from weight, height, age, boot sole length and skier type. Van Deer publishes no age, height or weight chart, so sizing is a coaching call.
