BLIZZARD Anomaly 94

The Blizzard Anomaly 94 is a 94mm all-mountain ski built to carve firm groomers, plow crud and thread trees on one pair, for upper-intermediate to expert skiers who drive the ski. It sits in the middle of Blizzard's redesigned men's Anomaly line - the line that retired the Brahma, Bonafide and Cochise at once - wider than the 84 and 88, narrower than the 102.

Under the topsheet is a TrueBlend All Mountain woodcore, dense beech underfoot and softer poplar graded toward the tip and tail, wrapped in Blizzard's FluxForm All Mountain metal package. That package is two Titanal layers, Blizzard's "2Ti": a full-width sheet below the woodcore for stability and edge hold, and three segmented Titanal pieces above it - four pieces of metal in all. The full lower sheet is what keeps the ski quiet and grippy at speed; splitting the upper layer into segments eases torsional stiffness, so the tail releases and pivots more willingly than a wall-to-wall sheet would. The give is in the twist, not the flex - this is still a heavy, stiff ski at about 2,150 g per ski.

It is the all-mountain generalist of the line: the narrower 88 carves firm snow more precisely, and the wider 102 floats better in soft snow. At 94mm with this much metal it gets through powder but is not a float machine, and Blizzard's official intermediate-to-expert rating runs ahead of independent reviews, which steer intermediates away from a ski this heavy and stiff. It is built for skiers who stay forward and put it on edge, not for a soft, do-it-for-you ride.
