BLIZZARD Black Pearl 84 26/27

The Blizzard Black Pearl 84 is a women's all-mountain ski, 84mm at the waist, and the narrowest, most groomer-focused ski in Blizzard's Black Pearl line: a forgiving frontside carver that bites hardpack but was never built to float.

Blizzard builds it with two women's-specific technologies. W.S.D. FluxForm All Mountain is the metal: a single Titanal layer cut into panels rather than run as full sheets — two strips down the edges plus a center strip, with fiberglass filling the gaps and carbon standing in for a metal layer the men's Anomaly carries. Under it sits a W.S.D. TrueBlend woodcore of density-blended beech and poplar, denser underfoot for edge hold and lighter toward the tip and tail to drop swing weight. The paneled metal puts Titanal where the ski needs grip and damping and leaves it out where full sheets would only add stiffness, so it bites firm snow like a carver while staying light and easy to bend. Tip rocker with camber underfoot locks the edge on groomers and eases the tip into the turn.

It suits an intermediate-to-advanced skier whose home hill is mostly groomers and hardpack, who wants quick, short-to-medium-radius turns (the radius runs 10 to 15.5m by length) and a metal ski that is friendly on day one but has room to grow into. It is not a powder ski: at 84mm it plows soft snow rather than planing, and no length changes that. It is not a one-wide-ski quiver, not a park twin, and not a heavy full-metal charger — that is the men's Anomaly 84. If you ski soft snow often, the wider Black Pearl 88 or 94 is the better tool.

The Black Pearl 84 comes in six lengths from 146 to 176cm. It is sold flat, so a binding is a separate purchase; we mount it and help set the right length and size in-shop.
