Burton Kids' Mini Grom Disc Snowboard Bindings

The Mini Grom is Burton's smallest binding, built specifically for toddler-sized feet (boot sizes 7C–13C) who are just starting to figure out what a snowboard even is. The whole design revolves around one thing: getting tiny hands into and out of the binding without a meltdown on the chairlift. Burton's Onestrap system handles that — instead of the usual separate ankle and toe straps, it's one oversized ankle/instep strap with a single Smack-It ratchet buckle, sized big enough to grab and click shut with a mitten on. There's no fiddly toe strap to deal with; one strap, one buckle, done. The soft-flex polycarbonate baseplate and equally soft Grom hi-back (rated about 3 out of 10) keep the board feel forgiving — this binding will not overpower a learner or fight back when a kid is still figuring out how to link turns. The disc mount is standard and works with 4x4, 3D, and Burton Channel boards, so it's not locked to a single board brand.

This binding is for the youngest riders — toddlers and very small kids who need the simplest possible gear and are riding beginner terrain. It is not the binding for a kid who's progressing fast: once they're past the early-learning stage and starting to ride harder, that very soft 3/10 flex stops giving back enough support, and a small ratchet hand can outgrow the single-strap simplicity. If your child has outgrown the 7C–13C boot range or is ready for a two-strap setup with real adjustability, the Burton Grom Disc is the next step up — it covers larger kid sizes and gives more tuning room as skills develop. One thing parents don't need to worry about: this is a traditional strap binding, not a Step On system, so any standard kids' snowboard boot works in it — there's no Step On boot lock-in either way.
