Capita D.O.A. Snowboard 26/27

The CAPiTA D.O.A. is an all-mountain freestyle true twin built around pop, and it is not the easy board its reputation suggests. Camber carries past the bindings rather than dying between them, and Flat Kick squares the tip and tail into a stiff platform. That platform is the ollie engine and the tax both: the same stiff ends resist a press and flatten a long carve. Deep snow is a separate problem. A centered twin with no taper does not have the outline to plane, whatever the tip shape does.

Underneath is a P2 Superlight core of paulownia and poplar, with carbon woven into the fiberglass rather than taped on top, over a sintruded Quantum Drive base testers single out for glide. The sidecut is Blended Radial: a single-radius arc through the midsection with a tuned blend zone at each contact point, stepping from 7.6 m to 8.4 m across the run. Flex is Twin 5.5 on CAPiTA's own 1-10 scale, which means nothing outside its catalog. Every construction row on the 26/27 catalog matches last season's, so the published D.O.A. reviews describe this board.

The D.O.A. rewards a rider who already carves. Spend the day looking for things to pop off, hold an edge instead of sliding it, and this board pays you back. The floor is technique, not fitness. It is the wrong board for a beginner, for anyone still skidding turns, for powder-first riders, and for rail and press specialists.

CAPiTA's line answers most of those riders better. A true beginner belongs on the Pathfinder. Grip on firm snow points to the Mercury, which carries the Death Grip sidecut this board lacks. Powder does not: testers rate its float mid-pack, and it has no taper either. Rails and a looser, slashier feel point to the Ultrafear; pressing and jibbing point to the softer Indoor Survival. A woman who wants this exact board has it in Birds of a Feather: same spec rows, same core, its own sizes. The D.O.A. is sold as a bare deck. CAPiTA builds no bindings, so no official pairing exists.
