Jones Men's Orion Snowboard Binding 2026/2027

The Jones Orion is the medium-flex strap binding in the 26/27 range: 3 of 5 on the brand's scale, which Jones labels a happy medium. It costs $329.95 and weighs 1.64 kg per pair in a medium. Jones's terrain scores: 9 all-mountain, 8 freeride, 9 freestyle — it headlines this as a freeride binding, and freeride is the lowest of the three.

Two straps and a ratchet

Sit down, thread both straps, stand up. Nothing opens or closes by itself. ZyTech buckles run the ratchets: Zytel composite levers, steel springs, a triple-action mechanism. Jones's fast-entry system, FASE, lives on separate bindings.

It arrives in Surf mode

With the hard bushings in and the Flip-It straps in Freeride position, Jones's line is lateral support and more response from the board. Flip those straps onto soft bushings and you get Surf, where the heel stays put but the ankle moves freely. The Orion's included bushings are the soft pair, so the looser setting is what you get; the Mercury arrives the other way round, with the hard pair in. Whether a hard set also ships here, Jones does not say.

What it bolts to

The disk in the carton is the universal one: it lines up with the 4x4 and 2x4 hole patterns and with Burton's EST Channel, so a Channel deck bolts on.

Medium and large only

Order to your boot, not your bodyweight. A medium is built for a US 7.5–10 boot (EU 40–43); a large starts at US 10.5 (EU 43.5+). Jones's chart also lists a small at US 5–7, but all four colors came only in medium and large. Under a US 7.5, we have nothing to fit you.

The lifetime tag applies to exactly two components, Hanger and Post; straps, buckles, bushings and the highback are covered for one year. Several parts arrive as names only. Jones prints Skate Tech and Flushcup without saying what either does. The highback is a Progressive Flex, the foot pillow comfort foam, the hanger a 3.0 — not the carbon-injected one Jones fits to the Mercury. We claim nothing for them.
