Jones Storm Chaser Snowboard 2026/2027

The Jones Storm Chaser is a swallowtail powder board and very little else. Jones scores the terrain All-Mountain 6/10, Powder 10/10, Freestyle 2/10 — the lowest freestyle mark in the 26/27 line — and grades the flex a medium 3/5.

The outline is short, wide and heavily tapered, finishing in a notched swallowtail. Waists run 27.1cm on the 147 and 27.5cm on the 152 — more width underfoot than many boards' wide sizes. Inside sits a Master Core under biax glass, with the Bcomp Carbon Flax stringer that Jones names but never explains.

What Jones does explain is the base. A High 3D Contour Base — the top of the three grades it prints — shapes nose and tail so snow is displaced from beneath the base and the nose lifts toward the surface. An edge gets rolled into a turn rather than tipped into one. Turns come around fast: a 6.6m sidecut on the 147, 6.9m on the 152. Grip is the one thing dialed back — Traction Tech sits at the Low setting, the bottom of the three.

Buy it as a second board for the mornings after the storm; it is a specialist and behaves like one. Riders wanting one do-everything deck should look at the Mind Expander 2.0 or the Hovercraft 2.0 — both cover far more of the hill. If your home mountain is firm groomers most weeks, the Low grade and a 3/5 flex come up short. Park and switch are off the table at Freestyle 2/10, with a notch cut out of the tail. And if the plan is to go fast and hold a line, that is the Flagship's job.

We brought in two lengths only, 147 and 152, both orange. The shorter is quicker and more throwable; the longer gives you more board underfoot at speed.
