About the Product
The Kazu Kokubo Pro is Capita's signature big-mountain freestyle board built around their RESORT V3 Directional profile — a hybrid camber setup that keeps a live, cambered platform underfoot through the inserts for real pop and edge hold, while raising the contact points to reduce hookiness and help the nose stay on top of variable snow. Pair that with a tapered directional shape (0.8" setback, radial taper) and a mid-stiff 6.5/10 flex, and what you get is a board that locks into powerful carves, launches off natural kickers with snappy rebound, and handles speed without chattering itself apart. The Panda Hover Core with Bamboo Power Rods keeps weight down while the CarbonFlax Amplifiers add responsiveness; the upgraded Hyper-Drive ADV XT base is fast out of the box and takes a tune well. The powder nose helps the tip stay afloat in shin-deep snow, but this is not a deep-day dedicated floater — it's built for the rider who wants to rip steep groomers, slash through tight trees, and send side-hits on the same run.
This board suits advanced to expert riders who move between resort terrain and side-country with an eye for creative lines — the kind of person who follows tracks into the steeps and then laps the park chair on the way back down. You need solid edge control before stepping onto it; the directional shape and stiffer flex do not coddle hesitant technique, and if your turns are inconsistent this board will tell you. It is also not the right call if you are primarily chasing powder days — the Kazu's flex is on the firmer side and its taper is fairly modest, so a true freeride shape like the Capita Navigator, with its more aggressive Parabolic Radical Taper and softer, more surfy 5.5/10 flex, will float and slash better when the snowfall is measured in feet rather than inches. Similarly, if your main focus is park laps and street-style jib lines, the Capita Super DOA's true twin shape and softer flex will feel more at home.
