Capita Ultrafear Snowboard 26/27

The CAPiTA Ultrafear is a true-twin park and jib snowboard, 25.3 cm at the waist on the 153, and it is not the soft board its reputation promises. CAPiTA rates it Twin 5.5 on its own scale, the same number it gives the D.O.A., and the two boards share a P2 Superlight core of paulownia and poplar, Hybrid Carbon HolySheet BI/BI glass, Resort V1 hybrid camber with Flat Kick tips, and a centered true-twin outline with zero taper. What makes this one the rail board is hardware, not softness.

The hardware is a 1.5 mm cork band. CAPiTA sets it between the steel edge and the ABS sidewall for "increased protection from blunt force impacts", runs it the full contact length, and names the Ultrafear in the spec itself. Where that cork sits, the D.O.A. carries 2 integrated carbon fiber beams instead. The SuperDrive ADV base is sintruded, not sintered: CAPiTA sells it as tough and low-maintenance, "more durable when jibbing", and it is the slower of the two bases. The sidecut is a plain Radial: one arc, 7.6 m at the 149 out to 8.0 m at the 157, with no Death Grip and no tuned blend zones. It does not hold an edge on ice, and it was never built to.

Buy it for rails, boxes, presses and small-to-medium jumps, and for a board that survives them. Skip it for speed, ice, powder and big booters. Read CAPiTA's own labels first: it calls the Ultrafear "THE RESORT AND PARK DESTROYER" and gives "LEGENDARY JIB MACHINE" to the Pathfinder - softer, reverse-cambered, $100 cheaper. CAPiTA builds 149, 151, 153, 155 and 157, plus 153W, 155W and 157W; we stock all but the 149, and one Wide - the 157W. Each Wide length is a standard length too, so the topsheet number identifies nothing - your boot does. CAPiTA rates the standard 153 through 157 to a US 10 and starts the Wide at US 10+. Decks ship bare; we fit the boot first, then size and mount your bindings with you in the shop.
