About the Product
The Jones Men's Frontier 2.0 was built around float: a directional freeride snowboard with a rockered nose, a Low Tapered outline, and a flex Jones grades a soft 2/5. On its terrain bars it takes All-Mountain 8/10, Powder 10/10, Freestyle 5/10.
The build is plain by design: a full-wood Master Core, biax fiberglass, Sintered 8000 base, Premium topsheet. No Koroyd, no basalt, no carbon/flax stringer. Two-axis glass gives up torsional stiffness a three-axis layup would keep, so the board twists into a turn early and comes in light, 2.7kg at the 156.
The float is in the shape: the nose rockers clear of the snow, the tail runs narrower than the nose, and a Medium 3D Contour Base with 3D Flip Tips rounds the tip and tail edges so they skim rather than dig in. Steering is easy because the sidecut is short: 7.2m at the 150, only 8.0m at the 162. Medium Traction Tech, serrated bite points along the steel, holds an edge when snow firms up.
It suits the rider chasing soft snow — powder, trees, side hits, short turns at a conversational pace — plus less aggressive or lighter riders, and intermediates moving onto a real freeride shape.
It does not suit anyone who wants to charge: a 2/5 flex over a plain biax layup has a speed ceiling on firm snow, and that rider should be looking at the stiffer Stratos or the Flagship. Long hardpack carves are out too — a short sidecut shuts the turn down before the arc can open. And with a tapered directional outline scored Freestyle 5/10, park laps and switch belong on a twin: here, the Mountain Twin.
We stocked eight lengths, 150 to 162, three of them wide. Width follows your boots, not your bodyweight: from roughly a US 11 upward, take the W. The board ships flat, so bindings are a separate purchase — Jones's listed pairings are the Nebula FASE and the Meteorite. Send your boot size and riding weight; we will settle length, fit the bindings and set the stance.
