About the Product
The Jones Hovercraft 2.0 is a directional freeride board for deep snow, and the only deck in the 26/27 range built on a recycled core. Jones grades it Powder 10, All-Mountain 7, Freestyle 4, at a flex of 3/5 it calls a happy medium. Rocker up front, camber under the feet, and the deepest taper grade the brand mills.
That core is called Re-Up Tech, and Jones's spec sheet says what goes into it: paulownia, poplar and recycled material from old snowboards. A flax fiber layer sits in the topsheet, described by Jones as carbon neutral, abrasion resistant, and able to absorb chatter when the snow turns rough. Everything else is deliberately spare. Two-axis glass. A porous Sintered 8000 base that drinks wax and wants it back regularly. No stringer, no Koroyd, no basalt.
Jones marks its shape tech Low, Medium or High, and this deck takes High three times over: 3D Contour Base, taper, Traction Tech. The rounded base edges are the float mechanism, lifting the nose by shedding snow from under it, and the deep taper stacks that lift ahead of your bindings. The serrated edge is the counterweight — Jeremy Jones's own line is that rocker surrenders grip and Traction Tech hands it back. A Speed Hull is printed at the tail. Jones publishes no mechanism for it anywhere in the catalog, and we are not going to invent one.
Wrong board for park and switch riding (Freestyle 4, deep taper, a true twin does that job), for anyone shopping for a stiff charger (3/5, no stringer), and for hardpack carvers who want a short, snappy turn: at 8.1m through 9.0m, this is the longest sidecut in our Jones order. We stocked 144, 148, 152 and 156 in Beige. Jones lists no wide version, so a bigger boot buys waist by going up in length. It ships bare, with the Mercury FASE and Orion named as its partner bindings. Send a boot size and a riding weight; we will land on the length, mount your bindings and set the angles at our bench.
