Jones Men's Howler Snowboard 2026/2027

The Men's Howler is Jones's full-camber directional freeride snowboard, designed with Victor de Le Rue and Elena Hight for steep, technical terrain. Jones's bars: Freestyle 9/10, Powder 9/10, All-Mountain 7/10.

There is no rocker in it. High Power Camber runs nose to tail, so the entire edge is loaded into the snow. That is where the grip comes from, and it is where the pop comes from. The flex is mid-stiff, 4/5. Medium Traction Tech serrates that edge for extra contact points once the line turns firm and steep, and the taper plus 3D-contoured tips look after float. Parts list: a Power Core of poplar, paulownia and bamboo, triaxial glass, a Premium Topsheet, a Sintered 8000 base, a Bcomp Carbon/Flax stringer and a Koroyd insert. Jones prints those last two as bare names and publishes no mechanism for either, so we won't invent one. Koroyd here is a construction feature, not a safety rating.

This one wants a rider who will stand on it: advancing intermediate and up, riding directional, happy to load a cambered board and take back what it returns. It is the wrong board for park, jib and switch riders, who are better off on a symmetric true twin; for a first-year rider, because camber this stiff will catch you when you hesitate; and for anyone whose first priority is easy, surfy float — a softer rockered board, or the rocker-nosed Flagship, hands you that with less asked in return.

No bindings in the box. Jones lists two of its own against this deck, the Mercury FASE and the Mercury. We stocked seven lengths, three of them wide: 152, 155, 158 and 161, then the 157W, 160W and 163W. Go wide if your boot is around a US 11 or over; stay on the regular width if it isn't.
