Jones Men's Stratos Snowboard 2026/2027

The Men's Stratos is Jones's medium-flex directional freeride snowboard: a tapered rocker-camber-rocker shape rated 3/5, which Jones calls a "happy medium." The bars read Powder 10/10, All-Mountain 8/10, Freestyle 5/10.

The core is a Power Core of poplar, paulownia and bamboo, under a two-way biaxial glass layup, with the Bcomp Carbon/Flax stringer threaded through it. Jones names that stringer without publishing what it does, so whatever carbon and flax each contribute is our read of the ingredients rather than a Jones claim. The base is better documented: a High 3D Contour Base, nose and tail rounded upward so the tips catch and drag less and the board lifts sooner in soft snow, over a Sintered 8000 that runs fast and drinks wax. High Traction Tech puts serrations in the edge for grip once the snow goes firm.

Worth knowing before you order: this board carries a Flip-Flop Base. Jones builds these in two base colorways to cut P-Tex waste, fills orders with either one, and states that the color does not vary by size. Nobody, us included, can promise which base color arrives in your box. The topsheet is black either way.

It suits a directional all-mountain rider from intermediate up who wants float and an easy-bending, energetic deck rather than a stiff charger. It is the wrong board for park and switch riders, who need a true twin; for an absolute beginner, who should start on something softer; and for the expert after a stiffer, harder-charging board, which is what the Flagship (4/5) and the Flagship PRO (5/5) are for. Bindings are sold separately, and Jones's sheet points at two of its own: the Orion, or the Mercury FASE. We stocked 149, 153, 156 and 159, plus three wides, 154W, 158W and 161W.
