Ogasaka U-XX/BL Skis 2027

The OGASAKA U-XX is a carving-leaning all-mountain ski, 77 mm underfoot, and it is the high-end UNITY — the one OGASAKA lifted onto its premium XX Collection shelf. The outline belongs to this ski alone: 119.0-77.0-102.0 mm at all four lengths, and every other UNITY is 4 mm wider underfoot.

OGASAKA calls the core the Sakura Core: an NF wood core with rigid cherry through its center, not the ultra-lightweight core the rest of the line uses. Around it go OGASAKA's special F.R.P and an A7178 aluminum alloy sheet, in a sandwich. The structure table gives it one mark, FLF: the A7178 is a laminate material, with no zone-specific stiffness claimed for it. Dynamic Tail is on the catalog's technology line here, and not on the U-PE's. The base carries the Center Wave grind, one of OGASAKA's four base finishes. Weight comes to 1,023 g/m, per meter of one ski — the heaviest UNITY built. No camber or rocker profile is published for it, no flex index and no per-length weight.

PTO sells the U-XX bare at $1,670 and the U-PE bare at $1,170. That is $500 more for a narrower, heavier ski, and the paper case for the premium is thin. One tester enjoyed skiing it and still would not call the ride as luxurious as the ski looks and costs. At 77 mm it will not float deep powder. If you want a single ski for groomed runs and unpacked snow, the U-PE is the wider ski and the better tool for that, which is OGASAKA's own argument for the 81 mm waist. Short turns are not this ski's business either: even the shortest U-XX turns at 14.1 m, and a tester on the 160 did not rate its short turns highly.

It is drawn for long and medium turns on groomed snow, at speed, on a build no other UNITY has. Sold bare, so it needs a binding — we mount it, set it to your boot, and settle the length with you. The review below covers the on-snow record and the length choice.
