About the Product
The Look Pivot 2.0 18 GW B105 Bluesteel is a full-metal freeride binding built around Look's turntable heel — a design that's been refined over decades and still holds a real functional edge. That turntable heel rotates directly under the tibia and delivers 28mm of elastic travel, which means the binding absorbs impacts and hard landings without pre-releasing. The all-metal RACE aluminum toe piece adds another 45mm of horizontal elastic travel and offers a 180° multi-directional release, not just lateral. Together, those two numbers add up to a binding that stays locked in through the rowdy stuff — big compressions, chop, variable landings — and releases predictably when it matters. The DIN range runs 8 to 18, which covers heavy, aggressive, expert-level skiers who need high retention. The B105 brake fits skis with a waist between roughly 95 and 105mm. Boot sole compatibility covers both standard Alpine ISO 5355 and GripWalk ISO 23223 A soles — so most modern ski boots will mount cleanly, but touring/tech soles will not. Stack height is 19mm at the heel, 18mm at the toe — nearly flat ramp angle, which freestylers and switch riders tend to prefer. Weight runs 1,245g per half pair, which is honest for all-metal construction.
This binding is built for heavy, hard-charging skiers — think 85kg and up, aggressive intermediates to experts who pound variable snow, ski steep terrain, or land with real force. The DIN minimum of 8 is the key caveat: if your calculated DIN setting is below 8, this binding cannot be safely adjusted down to release for you. The closest step-down in the same turntable family is the Pivot 2.0 15 GW (DIN 6-15) — but note its floor is 6, not 4, so it still won't suit a skier whose chart puts them well under 6. For lighter or less aggressive skiers, the Pivot 2.0 13 GW (DIN 4.5-13) reaches a meaningfully lower floor while keeping the same heel system; below that, you're into a different binding line entirely. The B105 brake is equally important: if your ski's waist is narrower than 95mm or wider than 105mm, this specific brake package is a misfit and you'll need to source a different brake width — Look offers the Pivot in other brake widths (B75 through B130) for exactly this reason. Lighter skiers, beginners, or anyone whose DIN chart puts them below 8 should not be on this binding, period.
