About the Product
The Faction Prodigy 3 is a 106mm all-mountain freestyle ski built around a poplar wood core — no metal anywhere in the layup. That matters for feel: this is a lively, light, snappy ski rather than a planted, damp one. The rocker-camber-rocker profile leans heavily toward rocker on both ends (390mm tip / 380mm tail) with only a whisper of camber underfoot, which means the ski floats and pivots easily but won't lock into a railroad-track carve on hardpack. Faction's Moustache Flex stiffens up right in front of and behind the binding for a stable platform at speed, while the tips and tails stay soft and forgiving — so you can redirect, spin, or stomp landings without fighting the ski. The directional twin shape (133mm tip, 125mm tail) lets you ski it comfortably switch or bias it forward on a charge. Sold as a flat ski — pair it with your own binding, mount it at the recommended mark, and it skis at its full potential.
This ski is a natural fit for intermediate-to-advanced skiers who want one quiver for mixed days: groomer laps in the morning, powder stashes or trees in the afternoon, maybe a few jumps in between. If you're someone who wants to explore the whole mountain with a playful bias rather than specialize, the Prodigy 3 covers a lot of ground honestly. Who should not buy it: if you're primarily a piste skier who prioritizes edge grip and precision carving on firm or icy snow, this ski will feel loose and washy underfoot — the deep tail rocker robs you of the clean release you want on hard surfaces. And if you're a charging freerider who skis fast in variable snow and wants real stability and damping, look instead at the Faction Dancer 3, which shares the same 106mm waist but adds two sheets of titanal — that construction delivers the grip and composure under load that the Prodigy 3 is not built to provide. If the Prodigy 3 feels wider than you need, the Prodigy 2 at 98mm is a quicker-turning, slightly park-leaning option on the same platform.
