At a 3-out-of-10 flex, there's enough give to make turn initiation forgiving and low-consequence, while the Forma XS ankle strap and TS 2.1 Ultragrip toe strap still hold a small boot securely in place. The 5-way adjustable heelcup adds useful longevity — you can dial in fit as a kid's foot grows across a season or two without buying new hardware. The Cadet Mini is also not the choice if you're hoping to skip to something "they can grow into" as a teen; it genuinely maxes out at small youth boot sizes and will be outgrown quickly by anyone above Mondo 21cm.
